DRDO Full Form

Full form of DRDO is "DEFENCE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION"

DRDO is a Republic India's Organisation working on developing new weapon technologies & equipment in accordance with the quantitative and qualitative requirement led by the three services, Army, Navy & Air Force.

DRDO had been founded in 1958 by the merger of the Technical Development Establishment and the Directorate of Technical Development and Production of the Indian Ordnance Factories with the Defence Science Organisation. DRDO having their headquarter in Delhi. Their moto is "बलस्य मूलं विज्ञानम्" (Strength's Origin is in Science).

Dr G. Satheesh Reddy is an Indian Aerospace Scientist and the current Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Government of India and Director General, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

DRDO has 52 laboratories all over India to develop defence technologies like aeronautics, armaments, electronics, land combat engineering, life sciences, materials, missiles, and naval systems. DRDO is India's largest & most diverse research organisation.




DRDO started it's first project of Army that is surface-to-air-missiles (SAM) know as Project Indigo in 1960s. In 1970s DRDO started Project Devil along with Project Valiant to develop short-range SAM and ICBM. In 1980s Project Devil itself led to the later development of the Prithvi missile under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP). IGMDP developed of a comprehensive range of missiles, including the Agni missile, Prithvi ballistic missile, Akash missile, Trishul missile and Nag Missile in between 1970s to 2007.

DRDO has published recruitment almost every year in  Assessment Centre (RAC) for Scientists (Group 'A' Class I Gazetted Post) recruitment and CEPTAM for recruitment, Admin & Allied Cadre (Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’) recruitment.
